…even though the unique combination of how to play instruction and what to play instruction set out in a sequential system modelled on the 250 year road tested classical musical methodology can’t be found anywhere else…
…for some students there’s still something missing.
Let me use a metaphor….the complete 50 Song program is set out like a detailed flight path leading you from Destination A to Destination B. Where Destination A is starting out as a bass player and Destination B is a good, low intermediate level of proficiency (as per the piece at the top of this page).
I used the word ‘flight path’ deliberately because if you’ve ever flown on a plane chances are that you started from your intended leaving point (Destination A) and landed at your intended arrival point (Destination B). What you may not know is that around 95% of the time you’re up in the air….the plane is off course.
That’s what the pilots are there for. Left alone, the plane still reaches the destination eventually. It just wastes time, fuel and unnecessary course corrections. That’s exactly what most bass players do.
They take measurements….they calculate what they need to do to get back on course….they course correct. Those measurement points are built into the course…there’s at least 50 of them!….but unless you understand EXACTLY what you’re looking for and how to find it…you won’t be able to identify that you’ve drifted on course or prescribe the solution.
So I’ve created guided version of HTPB 50 SONGS.
